Social studies is the integrated study of multiple fields including history, culture, geography, political science, and social studies skills.
The social studies curriculum builds the following capacities in young people: disciplinary knowledge; inquiry, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills; respect for the underlying values of a diverse democratic society; interest in public affairs and competencies of self-government.

7th grade social studies starts with Medieval history (different regions of the world from about 476 C.E. to 1453 C.E.). The last term of 7th grade social studies focuses on Washington State history.
