Jazz Band is a performance ensemble open to winds, brass, percussion, guitar, bass, piano, and strings (talk to Mr. Tanner first). Students will gain real-world experience in ensemble rehearsal, individual practice skills, ensemble performance, solo performance, as well as providing entertainment at community events.
Learning and improving our improvisation skills is a major component of this course since it is an important element of jazz and many other American and world music styles. Students are held accountable for regular, purposeful home practice in order to be contributing ensemble members and successful in the course. Attendance at all performances is mandatory.
