About Our Classroom:
We will explore, discover, and embark on a captivating journey through time and culture in our 9th Grade World History classroom. Our space is more than just a room—it's a portal to understanding the roots of our present and history of human civilization. We will interact with resources, and thought-provoking artifacts; our classroom will be a gateway for students to connect with the past and develop a deeper appreciation for the world around us.
Key Learnings:
In our classroom, we will delve into many topics responsible for shaping our world today. Throughout the year, we will be exploring key themes and historical periods that lay the foundation for a well-rounded understanding of our shared history. Some of the exciting topics that await include:
Unit 1: Civilization, Culture and Geography: Starting at about 1200, We will explore civilizations through the geography of each continent and focus on each civilization through the lens of culture; specifically, political structures and contributions, achievements, architecture, art, and philosophy. We will seek to understand how each of these topics reverberate in our modern society.
Unit 2: The Middle Ages and Medieval Times: We will Immerse ourselves in the era of knights, castles, and feudal systems as we seek to understand the socio-political dynamics that laid the groundwork for the modern nation-state.
Unit 3: Age of Exploration: We will sail alongside explorers as they chart uncharted territories, leading to the exchange of ideas, goods, and cultures across the globe.
Unit 4: Enlightenment and Revolutions: We will explore the birth and evolution of modern political thought, leading to revolutions that transformed societies and reshaped the concept of individual rights.
Unit 5: Industrialization and Globalization: Uncover the impacts of the Industrial Revolution and the interconnectedness of economies and cultures in our ever-changing world.
