Intensified Algebra is a 2-period block class designed for students needing more support while learning Algebra, including review of pre-algebra skills. Intensified Algebra is aligned to the Common Core Washington State Standards using the Intensified Algebra curriculum from Agile Minds. Students earn Algebra 1 credit and an elective math credit (not meeting a graduation math credit requirement). Successful completion of this course prepares students to continue to Geometry and Algebra 2. This course integrates Academic Youth Development, lessons that help students understand how the brain is malleable and can be trained to be successfully engage with and learn difficult concepts and skills.
