This course is designed to help students develop the skills and knowledge that they need to be engaged citizens. Students will examine the structure of government as the United States Constitution describes it and as the federal system shapes it. The experience of citizenship will also be examined – civil rights and liberties, influences on political opinion, and the electoral process.

CONTEMP ISSUES_Kelly_S2
Contemporary Issues introduces students to various issues facing the world today. This course is designed for students to explore local, national and international issues, as well as discuss and explore viable solutions to them. This class will require reading, research, critical thinking, and reflection, as well as a large amount of discussion with classmates, as it will be primarily discussion-based, allowing students to form their own opinions on matters that affect their world.
