MAND CHINESE 2A_Jiang_S1
This second year course continues developing the overview of Chinese culture and simplified Chinese through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Its objective is for students to achieve communicative competence in a variety of everyday situations. Through the development of receptive, productive, and interactive skills, students acquire the ability to respond and interact appropriately. At the end of the course, students will be able to give extended information about themselves, families and friends, daily life, and the immediate environment.

CHAMBER ORCH A_Schumacher_S1
Course Description Chamber strings challenges all musicians to refine their repertoire of skills they have been developing over the past several years. The class is fast-paced and requires dedicated practice. Students will work on arrangements of music that will stretch their abilities to the limits, while still having time to enjoy the musical experience. As a member of a large performance ensemble you will be expected to maintain a level of proficiency throughout the year on your instrument and learn new music as we progress. Required Materials Good quality instrument and accessories in working order Habits of a Successful String Musician for your instrument Pencil for each rehearsal and home practice Music stand, for home practice Concert Attire – Concert Black (More information will be following) Black Binder with sheet protectors for orchestra music Metronome and tuner (with clip on microphone) for school and home practice

MAND CHINESE 3A_Jiang_S1
Mandarin Chinese 3 provides ongoing exploration of the Chinese language and culture. Students will develop their communicative skills in spoken and written Chinese at a functional level. Students will read a variety of authentic texts. Communication between students and teacher will be exclusively in Chinese, with students able to utilize conversational Chinese to function in the class with little use of English.

THTR ART&PERF 1_Butterworth_S1
Theatre Arts and Performance 1 (formerly Drama 1) This is a fun and engaging hands on class that focuses on the foundations of drama and acting. Every class period involves performance activities, active note taking, play and script analysis or other drama related projects. Topics in the course include theatre history, script analysis, staging, improvisation, ensemble-building, directing, and characterization. Active participation every day is essential. You will be getting up and performing in front of your peers!
