ON LEVEL: In this course, sophomores focus on refining analytical skills in reading, writing and thinking. With an emphasis on language and World Literature, students examine a wide variety of themes. Students further develop skills in vocabulary, grammar, mechanics and usage, oral communication, presentation and research skills through analytical essays, poetry, narratives and debate.

This course is an integrated Language Arts and social studies course. In LA this year students will study language, literary and writing techniques using the texts outlined below. This content will often be connected to the Social Studies content where we will study Civics (American government) first semester and the history/culture of Africa and Asia second semester. Please review the expectations below as we will cover content that has multiple perspectives. As such students will need to be engaged and respectful as we learn the skills of civil discourse and discussion.

IB FRENCH SL A_Fisher_S1
In depth exploration of the French language and complexities of Francophone and other cultures, all in a completely immersive environment. Students who successfully complete IB exams are considered legally/certifiably bilingual. However, sitting for the IB examinations is not a requirement of the course.

HONORS: In this course, sophomores focus on refining analytical skills in reading, writing and thinking. With an emphasis on language and World Literature, students examine a wide variety of themes. This course is designed for students seeking further challenges, who are willing to read additional and more complex literature, and are willing to undertake complex and extensive writing assignments.
