    I would like to welcome all of you to Inventor’s Lab at Pacific Cascade Middle School! I am happy to have all of you in my class and am looking forward to an exciting and challenging trimester of exploration and invention. We will tinker and get our hands involved in problem solving. Inventor’s lab is a place to create, experiment, and innovate. In this course, we will use the tech design process to invent, build, and test our creations. During this course, you will: -build physical inventions to meet diverse challenges, using the tech design process -work independently and in groups -demonstrate persistence through iterations of designs -actively reflect on your design/build process and submit/discuss in various formats (inventor’s notebook, short video, discussions)

    This yearlong course is designed for students seeking further challenges, who desire to read additional and more complex literature, and tackle more complex and extensive writing assignments. Students will be expected to work well both in groups and independently. Our focus is on developing analytical reading, academic writing, critical thinking and presentation skills. Course content includes short stories, poetry, and required readings. Instruction includes narrative, informational and argumentative reading and writing related to sustainability. In addition, instruction will include vocabulary building and grammar.
